Madam Aw Choy Kum, 76
Widow and former hawker


Her wish is to live out the mature years of her life in dignity and in the familiar sights and smells of her two-room flat. Despite a stroke and fall which severely limits her mobility, she was able to continue caring for herself, with help from the Hua Mei Mobile Clinic. Read her story.

 

Madam Chong Chow Mooi, 70
Married with no children
Former cleaner

Madam Chong is wheelchair bound from stroke and has dementia. Her unemployed husband, 68, is her primary care giver. “I can’t look for work because I have to take care of my wife. Sometimes, I look back in the past. She was so beautiful when she was younger. I don’t understand why she had to suffer from stroke.” Read more

 

Madam Hadijah, 76
Married, former cleaner


A stroke left her wheelchair bound and suffering from dementia. Her devoted husband, 84, is determined to take care of Madam Hadijah at home. “I will continue to take care of my wife as long as I can in the home,” said Mr Ali. Read their story of care and devotion.

 

Mr Nagapillai, 83
Single, former odd job labourer


He was homebound for many years due to a chronic obstructive lung disorder and severe joint pain. Today, he enjoys an active social life at a seniors’ multi-service centre near his home. His medical condition improved under the care of Hua Mei Mobile Clinic. Read more
